Judges 2:20 - 21 - The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel; and he said, "Because this nation have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not listened to my voice; I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died;

Judges 21:25 - In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Summary

The Book of Judges tells of a disobedient and idolatrous people who are often defeated because of their rebellion against God. God raises up judges or saviours to restore the nation to pure worship, but after the death of each, the nation sinks back into rebellion and idolatry.
